pagemaker / photoshop default directory

Is there a way in Adobe pagemaker and/or photoshop to set the default directory to a network mapped drive, so when the user opens the program and searches for a file, it always starts from a default directory setting we can change?

The bad news: There's no way to do that in Photoshop.

The good news:  Photoshop's default is to go to the last directory in which a file was opened. So if you're always opening files on the same drive, at least it will always go first to a directory on that same drive.

I can't say for sure about Pagemaker, but I'd bet Adobe would try to be consistent for things like this for most of their products.
