Languages available for develop CGI programs

Hello,

 I would like to know what my options are to process HTML forms.  I know that CGI programs can be made in c++, perl, but what other languages are there?  Can I do it in Java?  Most people write CGI scripts with perl, so is that the easiest answer assuming that I don't know anything and taking compatibility/availability on web servers into account?

lexxwern,

 So what language would you say is best suited to CGI programming?  Which would someone be able to learn quick to process simple HTML forms?

lexxwernCommented:
perl. you will ask why,

(1) i learnt it in 2 days;
(2) great string manipulation techniques;
(3) again extremely easy to learn;
(4) good file handling techniques;

php is good too, and even tho it doesn't come in the cgi category... but i will suggest perl, because perl is just a more wider language
