play mpeg files

I just received an mpeg file. When i play it, it only gives me themusic, but not the movie itself.

I have Win2000, Windows Media PLayer 7.01.
I tried dozloqding the latest codecs (wmpcdcs8.exe - 717 Kb) from the microsoft site, but still the same.

If i viez the header of the mpeg file, it displays some strings like :
RIFF AVI LIST hdrlavih8  strlstrh8   vidsdivx


Is thsi mpeg file corrupt, or how can i play it?

This is probably caused because you downloaded a DIVX movie file. I have seen the same problem before. You can Download the newest DIVX codec and player at www.divx.com

do you have any problems playing other MPEG files?

If all is ok then it is the file you received, have them resend it to you .

I tried with 'the playa' which didnt't work either. ON the divx i saw a new version was available.

Thanks for the hint. The new divx version is capable of showing the movie.
