For your contributions to my question:

Bye.

Thanks much, at least there was SOME improvement.

If you'd care to pass this on to your sysadmin, feel free to:

1) If you're using the latest client from Novell (4.83), drop back two revs - 4.83 is abysmally slow.

2) NetWare will slowdown if it has lots of duplicate purgeable names to follow when creating a new one.  For example, if an app continuously creates and deletes the same file, say vol:\temp.tmp, server performance quickly drops when the number of purgeable vol:\temp.tmp files hits around 15,000.  Either set purge immediate on the particularly active areas, or get the app writer to set purge immediate for its' frequently used files.

3) Review any home grown NLMs for socially irresponsible behaviour.  Pay close attention to blocking calls and make sure there is frequent, appropriate use of ThreadSwitchWithDelay().

FWIW, I'm the NLM and system utility programmer for 1500 NetWare servers and 130,000 desktops.

Cheers...
