Comms between Service <=> Applet
Can anyone tell me the 'preferred' technique for communicating between an (Win2K) service, and a desktop applet.
An example being a formless service running as automatic, and a user-initiated applet e.g. control panel that manages parameters inthe running service.
I can think of a few ways to do it, but I expect there is a fairly 'standard' method that I can use to be politically correct... !
TIA

I'll have to think about this - as the time critical nature of my app is the only obstacle to stop/start

I can do this but I'll have to watch the time, as my service is handling socket traffic and realtime video encoding to a http: stream and to a file (which is partitioned on the second -every 30 minutes).
As long as I have no other actions pending I could do as suggested... or defer until the next available opportunity (say 2 secs later).
Thanks for the idea. I'll leave the Q open for a day or two - then award the points.
Cheers
