Yes, I am using exactly what you are using, that is Tomcat 4.0 plus Apache. It's very easy to configure, what is your problem?

1. install jdk 1.3
2. install apache
3. install tomcat
4. install mod_webapp into apache module.
5. add a line at end of httpd.conf:
Include "/usr/local/jakarta-tomcat/conf/tomcat-apache.conf"

the tomcat-apache.conf is automatically generated everytime you start tomcat, when you modify server.xml, it will generate different tomcat-apache.conf.

6. start tomcat
7. restart apache

Every step you need to carefully read readme file, and maybe need to download some files from official website. I am not exactly know which step block you, if you have question at above steps, please feel free to ask me.
