IE6 deployed in MSI doesn't do flash!

Hi we've used an MSI to deploy IE6 in our Windows 2000 domain. When a user opens a flash page they don't see the flash content and they don't get an install dialog.

When an administrator uses IE6 and opens a flash page it works okay. When a user then uses IE6 it also works ok. Because we will be rolling out 100+ new systems very soon we'd like to get it working without administrator's intervention...

Any ideas or suggestions?

IE 6 requires you to download and reinstall Browser Plugins, get the Flash Player and Shockwave players here:
http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash
or here:
http://www.macromedia.com/software/downloads/

More about Netscape plugins not supported in IE6 as well as IE 5.5 with SP 2 here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q303401

Also, if you haven't checked WindowsUpdate or the link which follows for critical updates, also advised:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/Q321232/default.asp

That should take care of your problems.

Good luck ":0) Asta

Any news?  Again, the links where you can download the free players is here:

Here's the link for both:

Hi, sorry I couldn't get back sooner.

Flash is installed, it just isn't activated. When I open a link which uses flash as an admin all is well. (Also for normal users on this system).

Any interaction from a user or an admin is not an option because we will be rolling out 100+ systems in our company and setting these options would take too much time.

Using IEAK?

I am absolutely swamped the rest of this week, hopefully these MSDN links will help you in the interim.

this might be related to how a program has to be installed by admin on NT rather than a user?  perhaps in order to activate Flash, you must be logged in as admin for the first time.

I don't know enough about NT to help beyond this though, sorry...

I will say this sounds more like a question for the Win2K Topic Area rather than this one, I think it's more OS related than browser related. Could be wrong.

Rogier,

I have a question. What kind of MSI did you use for the deploy of ie6 (i'm planning a deploy at this moment for my organization). Can you please send me some information about/or the msi.

Thank you

Feature SelectionSelect the features that you want to customize. They determine which remaining wizard screens appear. For example, if you plan to customize only links and URLs, you can clear the other check boxes, so that you focus only on that customization. Making these choices helps you quickly and easily build your custom package, because the Internet Explorer 6 Customization Wizard displays only the screens that you need.

 Note
Click Select All to quickly indicate that you are customizing all features. Click Clear All to quickly indicate that you are not customizing any of the listed features.
To use the configuration of a previously built IEAK package as the baseline for this package, return to the File Locations screen and click the Advanced Options button to import an .ins file. As you create the new package, you can change any of the imported settings.

Microsoft Windows 2000
Note that the Install Minimal, or customize your browser option is not available when you install on a Windows 2000-based computer. As a result, the Component Options dialog box is not available, and therefore you cannot select individual Internet Explorer components. Setup installs the following components:
Internet Explorer 6 Web browser
Microsoft Outlook Express 6
Windows Media Player (version 6.04.07.1119)
Visual Basic Scripting Support (version 5.6.0.6626)
Internet Explorer Exception Pack
