Does anyone know of a Fax machine(not color) where you can preset incoming phone numbers to be answered by the machine or a Fax/Data modem that can do the same thing?

The Panasonic KX-FP105 is capable of that.

I've got one.  It just has to be programmed to do it, and the programming is listed in steps in the owners manual.

any other questions?

I looked at the pdf document (manual) on panasonics website and didn't see where it showed that I could enter the specific numbers that I wanted the fax machine to answer on.  I did see the distinctive ring option which I am familiar with, but was hoping to set exact numbers that when matched against the caller id would either answer as a fax or let the phone keep ringing.
By the way, would you happen to know how many pages you get out of a cartridge?

got it...  I appologise, I must have missunderstood the question.  you're right, the fax machine will not awner as a fax ONLY on certain numbers, but I think it will IGNORE certain numbers.

as far as the pages per print cartrige, I'm not sure...  I have only replaced the cartridge once.  And I've had the machine for about a year...

sorry I couldn't help.

After researching your Fax and several like it, I found another feature that would work for me just as well, Remote Activation.  As soon as I hear a Fax tone on any phone line in the house I can hit *9 to make the Fax machine pick up.  I bought a Panasonic KXP-151
