I got new machine with XP as OS. I installed my Delphi, but it do not work correct.
- Compiled projects can not write to ini-files
- project can not be saved on networkdrive (LAN Novell) - it can not overwrite *.dof files, wich is especially bad for components pallets.

is there any problem by file accessing?

Yes, it's probably file access problem due to limited privileges.

If you installed Delphi as administrator, and are logged
in as administrator when this happens, you should have full access rights. In that case I don't know
what's going on.

If not, then this could help:

1. If you installed Delphi as administrator, then use
   Delphi only as admin.
   Try:

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> User Accounts -> User Account types

too see what you can't do as ordinary (limited account type) user.

2. If that doesn't do the trick, you didn't install Delphi as admin. Uninstall Delphi, restart  PC, log in as administrator and then install Delphi. Use it as admin, so that you can have full access rights.

well, i have created an user Administrator connected on domain. then i created user cernak (it is me) in the administrators group too and under it i installed delphi.

you mean, that if i used the administrator user instead, i did not have the problems? but then i would not use my novell - username and would not have access to my projects?!

is it right, or i am wrong?

pistacer,

I don't quite understand you. Please explain in more details.

1. What do you mean by Administrator 'connected on domain'? Do you have more than one box (network) in play, or are you using just one box?

2. What do you mean by 'novell-username'?

If you are loged in as admin, you have access to everything, including your projects. Did you try it?

sorry for so late answering - i was out of business :-)))

- Administrator 'connected on domain' - ewery domain in novell network is having one administrator, wich i realy believe, is having the full privileges and a full file access, but it is just one person for our developers domain in our office.
- 'novell-username' - every user is having his own specific username in the novell network.
- i can not log to the net as a domain administrator :-))) i do not want to loose my job! :-)))

but more info:
the same problem are having the developers in VBasic. it is connected with the function WritePrivateProfileString, wich is under WinXP not working properly.

yes, maybe is it depending on any user-file-access privilege, but i do not know on wich.
