Pcmcia card CD Rom

My friend has a laptop that uses an external pcmcia card CD Rom. He doesn't have any recovery disk. The problem is that after I formatted the hard disk, and start  the computer with startup disk, it can not find its CD Rom, but in Windows enviroment, the CD rom can be detected without any problem. Now, every time when I select install Windows with CD rom support, I will get error message saying that the computer can't find a CD rom. Does anyone know how to solve this problem. Please help me!!!

You need the CDROM drivers specific to thos PCMCIA card.

I would go to the web site of the manufacturer and download all the drivers. This should include DOS drivers for a boot floppy.

I hope this helps !

I can't find the manufacturer's web site. Is there any standard DOS driver for PCMCIA card I can download? Or is it possible to use Zip instead of CD rom (I mean copy the Windows98 to a Zip disk, and then connect to the computer).
