I got some computers with Notes version 4.6.3a.
MAPI don't work, when I try to select "Send" from the file menu in Wordpad, Wordpad freezes.

Is it possible to get MAPI support in Notes version 4.6?
If yes, how do you install the MAPI support? Is it an option in the installation, or do you have to download something? If download, where do you download it from?

I know nothing about Notes.
What I'm looking for is clear, concise, easy-to-follow instructions on how to make Simple MAPI work for Lotus Notes 4.6.

In the link , it says that
"If you installed Notes before installing Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Office applications, you must manually merge the contents of each section of the NOTESPIS.INF file in the Notes program directory into the appropriate sections of the MAPISVC.INF file in the Windows system directory"

Is that the correct procedure for making Simple MAPI work for Notes version 4.6?

On my computer, where Simple MAPI work ok with Outlook,
I checked the file mapisvc.inf. It says nothing about Ootlook there, only Exchange server (which I don't have).
Is the file mapisvc.inf really relevant for making Simple MAPI work for Lotus Notes 4.6 ?

Reinstall the Notes client and it will do it for you.

(...and by the way install R5 :-)

R5 is not an option, I need to make it work with 4.6 :-(
Is that possible, and is merging NOTESPIS.INF into MAPISVC.INF the correct way of doing it?

Are there any particular installations options that need to be selected to make simple mapi work on Notes 4.6?

Your last question is correct the other way around: mapisvc.inf is the place to make Notes one of the MAPI service providers.
Notes does not need mapisvc.inf; MAPI needs this config file to call Notes MAPI services.

Have you located your NOTESPIS.INF in Notes program directory and your MAPISVC.INF in Windows directories?

If so, look at it, make a backup of MAPISVC.INF and merge the sections from NOTESPIS.INF into MAPISVC.INF

If it does not work, then recall your backup :-)

I searched the Notes program directory, but I could not find a file NOTESPIS.INF.

Is Simple MAPI supposed to work with Notes 4.6?
Have you tested that Simple MAPI actually works with Notes 4.6?
