unable to route to all internet hosts

it is not a DNS problem(meaning the DNS servers I use for resolving MX, etc. work fine)

I am configuring a separate PC with lotus notes (5.0.5) that has networking setup as DHCP and sometimes Dials an ISP. In any of the cases Incoming(pulling mail) from IMAP or POP3 servers work fine.

Lotus Notes is separate from the domain we use(it is a test machine and we want to work in direct internet and dialup)

The Lotus runs as service (nt srvice) and has enabled only the outbound SMTP.

As I said above, using with different documents produces emails with Different email addresses.

But,,,, once we send, it shows that can not route outside. The connection can be DCHP or PPP dialup, but never both at the same time.

What I am doing wrong, the mail is unable to get routed outside?

please be more verbose(it is version 5.0.3)
thank you

You need to set up your Domain ( internet ) in the address book and have it route to your mail server.

I would read the Admin 5 Help file, t has all the info you need to set up the proper documnts.

There is more info on the Notes KB.

I hope this helps !

SysExpert, the machine is/will not be a mailserver.

Here is the problem: I am runing DHCP and(one of those: DHCP, PPP) PPP dialup. This machine is not a mail server at all for any domain. All I want is that when I login to lotus notes locally(to this machine), and since I am able to pull the mail from multiple IMAP/POP3 servers, if I write something(using again the same machine) to go outside and not to say "unable to route"

basically, i am using a full fledged serv/client(both of them) of lotus notes as email client just like outlook, exception is the fact that while I am using outlook I must rely on others SMTP servers, in this case Lotus SMTP which is not delivering.

again this is a test machine, to believe I can have lotus notes to pull multiple pop3 accounts, in separate folders(which "Rules" which I specify only delivers at Inbox), and if I write using multiple documents (with diff. email addressses) to send them successfully.

Sorry for not making this clear at the first time. I apologize. Sorry.

Make sure that you have a Global domain document configured on your Domino server.  If you do, use this list to ensure that your system is ready to send mail to  the Internet or another private SMTP network.
  1.     Make sure that you have a connection to the Internet via an Internet Service Provider (ISP) or a direct connection.
  2.     Use the Ping command to test the connectivity between the SMTP-enabled server and any external host to which it connects. Test the connection between machines from which messages will be sent and the servers from which you send mail to the outside world, such as your ISP (ping isp-host). Ping tests only the accessibility of the host, not the existence or proper configuration of SMTP.
  3.     Define a list of the inbound Internet domain names by which your organization is known. In some cases, a company may have multiple Internet domain names. Enter these names as aliases in the Global domain document.
  4.     Make sure that the DNS is set up to include all the Internet domain names that your company uses.
  5.     If your company uses a mail relay or firewall, obtain the host name or the relay host.

If you are only using SMTP/POP 3 mail, then you have the wrong SMTP address for OUTGOING mail set in the notes client.

Please re-read the Help on using pOP 3 mail, and put in the correct address.

f this is not a client problem, then the Notes server is set up incorrectly for handling outgoing SMTP mail.

I hope this helps !
