If that is correct then your version of IOS does not contain the NAT software. You may need to upgrade to a different version. What version is currently on the router? You can do this by doing a show version.

On the outside or internet interface you would use the command:

ip nat outside

On your inside ethernet interface you would use the command:

ip nat inside

You would then use the command similar to this:

ip nat inside source list 1 interface Serial0/0.1 overload

This command points to an access list, source list 1, which might look like this:

access-list 1 permit 10.5.0.0 0.0.255.255

All traffice going from network 10.5.0.0 will be natted as it goes out the serial interface to the internet. The overload command at the end is utilized if you have more than one machine that your going to nat.

The interface that is directly connected to your LAN will have the ip nat inside command on it. The interface on your router that connects to the WAN portion of your network will have the ip nat outside command on it. This shows nat where the ip is coming from and going to. Using an access list you would permit your network of 10.5.0.0 to be able to go to the internet just like the statement I used above. Then the ios knows from where the ip traffic is coming that is to be natted, and what network is supposed to be natted as it goes thru. And finally the ip nat source list command is used to point to the access list that has the network that is to be natted. When an IP packet comes thru, the ios measures it against the access list criteria and if it is valid it gets natted.

config t

int e0/0
ip nat inside

exit

int s0/0
ip nat outside

exit

access-list 1 permit ip 10.5.0.0

ip nat inside source list 1 interface Serial0/0 overload

exit

That should pretty much do it.

I'm probably a little dense here but what does pm mean? If it's like IM, normally all conversations need to go on within the EE group and they frown on outside conversing.

Unfortunately you would need to get an account to be able to update the software and get the correct IOS version. This is out of the scope of our ability here.
