Hello Experts,

We are developing a product for exchange, I would like to know some details about exchange in the realtime usage. Since I am more familiar with Linux and not much aware of exchange (may be coz it is not open source)

1. In the realtime, is exchange server will open only port 25 for mail services or how is that.

2. I think to install exchange IIS should be running then port 80 should be open (guess ....)

Can experts write their views..

Regards,

Vat

Exchange uses SMTP for all its mail services, which indeed uses port 25. It's possible to connect to the Exchange server via a POP3 mail client (Outlook Express, Eudora, etc.), which uses port 110. You do NOT need IIS installed to install Exchange unless you want to set up Outlook Web Access (the feature which allows Web browser access to an Exchange mailbox).
