Had an odd thing happen (on my G3 running OS 8.6) .... I wanted to see the new commercials on the Apple website, so I &nbsp;downloaded one and was told I needed to upgrade Quicktime. I downloaded the QT 5.05 installer and ran it then watched the commercial .... no problems. But I then noticed my desktop picture had disappeared. I could not reload it or any other picture using the Appearance control panel. Desktop pictures could not be &quot;set&quot; and they did not preview in the control panel window. I uninstalled QT 5 and reinstalled QT 3, which I had on a disk, and everything was back to normal. Has anyone else had a problem like this and is there anyway around it....

Apple's early computers ran on a variety of operating systems, including a Pascal version and one based on CP/M, before releasing its ProDOS with the advent of its 16-bit computer. With the release of the Lisa, which had its own OS, Apple and computing entered the graphical age; it was followed by the Macintosh, which offered a series of "System" operating systems. Other Mac operating systems included PowerPC until Apple acquired NeXT and folded it into the Mac OS. Current operating systems for Apple devices are Mac OS-X and iOS.
