I have a jsp that takes a long time to load.  I would like to trigger the jsp that takes a while and then display a gif that indicates that progress is still being made on the page request so that the user gets feedback that the search is still being performed.  Then, when the page finally finishes downloading, I would like to swap out the image that indicates activity with another image that indicates that the jsp is done or no image at all.

Now, is there a way to detect when a jsp is done downloading?  Also, what is the best mechanism to swap the done image in for the downloading image?  Thanks!!

Hi,

I think u can use this code instead of message u can put any image u want.
if ( session.getValue( "WAIT" ) == null ) {
    session.putValue( "WAIT", "" );

    out.println( "<HTML>" );
    out.println( "<HEAD>" );
    out.println( "<TITLE>Please Wait...</TITLE>" );
    out.println( "<META HTTP-EQUIV=\"REFRESH\" CONTENT=\"1\">" );
    out.println( "</HEAD>" );
    out.println( "<BODY>" );
    out.println( "<CENTER>" );
    out.println( "<br><br><br><br><H3><font color = red>Page Loading.....</font></H3><HR>" );
    out.println( "<H4><font color = red>Please wait.</font></H4>" );
    out.println( "</CENTER>" );
    out.println( "</BODY>" );
    out.println( "</HTML>" );
    out.close();
}
else {
    session.removeValue( "WAIT" );
%>

Your jsp code which do certain operations
