1) What all languages and scripts can work within HTML either as part of it OR a call to them.
2) What activities can we perform with them.
3) For ex. JavaScript is used as part of it mainly for validations and what else?
4) What types of graphics, images, audio & video do browsers support and the programs used to generate them are required to be installed to view/hear.

This is a pretty vague question, and there are a lot of different factors that affect what can be displayed on a web page.

If you are considering only the latest browsers, you can display the following file types:

HTML files (.htm / .html)
JavaScript Pages (.jsp)
Active Server Pages (.asp)
Flash movies (.swf)
JPEG images (.jpg)
GIF images (.gif)
PNG images (.png)
Bitmap images (.bmp)
Quicktime Movies (.mov)
PDF files (.pdf)
Word documents (.doc)

This is merely a short list of the main, most popular file formats used...

Also, here's a short list of languages you can use in conjunction with HTML:

PHP
ASP
JavaScript
ColdFusion
Delphi CGI
VBScript

Hope this helps
