regExp for no space after period

I'm processing a text file that has frequent 'no space after a period' typos. Reading OReilly's JS Definitive I thought that I'd use:

\.\w

or possibly

\.\S

to find these instances but both apps I've tried this in (editPlus and Fund' Search & Replace are finding only instance of a . followed by a 'w' or 'S' respectively.

Both apps support reg expressions well enough that I'm sure the error is mine... So how do I find instances where a period is followed by anything except a space character?

thankx

I tried this with Javascript, and it worked:

var str1 = "abc. def.ghi. 123";
var str2 = str1.replace(/\.\S/g,". ");
alert(str2);

... but there is a problem with more than one occurance ...

maybe you could forct the issue like this:

var str1 = "abcd. efg.hij klm.nop qrs.tuv wxyz.";
var str2 = str1.replace(/\.\s/g,".");  // first, force all dots to have no trailing space
var str3 = str2.replace(/\./g, ". ");  // then force all dots to have a space
alert(str3);
