Network icon missing (network functioning)

There are no network icons in my "My Netork Place" properties box. This wouldn't bother me if i didn't need to make some changes as the network is totaly functional. I have installed most Windows Updates and re-installed Service Pack 2. I have crippled the on-board nic and installed a substitue card which also works, also with no icon so I put it back to original.

Do you have any NETWORK CLIENTS installed?  If so, what ones?  If not, try installing Client for Microsoft Networks.

My partner found it. Run dcomcfg and set identity to anything but "Anonymous"
I tried running this command from a Windows 2000 Pro, Server, and XP Pro PC and it could not find the file. I have never heard of this tool. Would it be possible for you to elaborate a little? Anything you can teach an expert is always appreciated. :)
I misspelled it. It's dcomcnfg.exe
