veritas problem with ntvdm

When starting veritas on a windows 2000 server we are unable to get the setup.exe to execute instead this just hangs under ntvdm and no other 16 bit applications can be started until that ntvdm is killed.  How is this happening and how can it be resolved so that we can run and setup veritas?

What version are you using?
What model server are you running it on?
Do you have the latest Microsoft Updates such as SP2 installed?

Are you logged in as administrator ?
You probably can not install if not.

Also - Check the Veritas site. They have a good knowledge base !

I hope this helps !

The solution we found to this problem was to come in after hours and shutdown all services running on the 2k machine in question.  After doing this we were able to run Veritas and do the install.  Upon completion of install and setup we rebooted and all the services returned to normal.  Issue is resolved.  I am still upset that there was no help from Veritas on this one and that there were multiple postings on thier site with people that had this problem.  What I did I dont constitute as a fix but more of a work around but it got the job done.

Make sure that you express your concern and what you did to get you back up and running again to Veritas. It will probably go on deaf ears, but it may do some good for others or lead them in a new direction for a fix...

Glad you go it to go though...

Thanks.  I will post on Veritas with my own solution and maybe they will do something about it.  How do you get points back if you answer the question yourself?
