OK .. try this

In IE

Click Tools / Internet Options

Click Security

And Select Internet and click Custom Level

Scroll downt o the bottom and check to see if the Annoymous Login is checked .. if it is then IE will be default try to use and annonymous account to login

Instead check Prompt for Username and Password .. that will force the AUTH for you

This will possibly sort out that problem but without anymore detail I cant help you

Other things to check .. does the site require 128bit encryption and do you have that installed ??

I tried all the option in
User Authentication -> Logon

None of them is working

I get the error when I try to connect any secured site/page.

I am having Window NT server (v 4.0) service pack 6
on my machine.

Please help

Is it only HTTPS that is causing problems or when you go to any page that requires a username, password either through HTTP_AUTH or NT Challenge Response?

Other sites I can browse, only sites which require
user name and password it gives the problem. After
giving the username and password it gives the
error. For eg. I was trying to do my credit card payment.
This error is not only of a particular site. The error
comes for every site which require a secure connection.

Following is the content of the error page

=========================================================
The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

Please try the following:

Click the  Refresh button, or try again later.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
If your Network Administrator has enabled it, Microsoft Windows can examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings.
If you would like Windows to try and discover them,
click  Detect Network Settings
Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu and then click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength security you have installed.
If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security settings can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0.
Click the  Back button to try another link.

What are your internet encryption levels .. as in click Help/About IE and you will see the IE version.  Maybe you dont have suffecient encryption levels

Also are you accessing through a proxy server

I am not accessing through a proxy server. Its the pc
at my home and my internet service provider is NetZero.

In the help about IE i get the following

Chiper Strength    : 128-bit
Product id         : 55736-951-0707482-04244

This is a customized version of Internet Explorer

Ok, if you see the last line of the error message you will see somethinjg about settings in your security (Tools/Internet OPtions/Adavanced)

Can you just try using all protocols rather than just any singular one.

I tried that 'Tools/Internet OPtions/Adavanced' option given on the error page at the very first instance I got the error message. It did not work
