Stuck in Die Hard Nakatomi Plaza for PC

I am stuck on the Die Hard NP game on the PC.  I am on the architect level, however I cannot use the architext to open the door in the room (where the floor is on fire).  The architect just goes to the corner and I cannot get him to the door.  I have tried to use the fire extinguisher to clear a path - no luck.  I have tried to shoot at the fire extinguisher to get it to explode to open the door - no luck.  i cannot seem to find a smoke alarm - to set off teh sprinkler system.  Is there any way around this?

Any information would be gratefully received.

You have to use the extingquisher to clear a path. The "path finding" in die hard really sucks so you have to try several times before he starts to follow you. When he reaches the door he will open it. There is no other way. I had to try about twenty times before he finally followed me and got stuck in the door so he couldn't open it. So after another twenty times he finally opend the door.
