Excel with macros printing blank sheet and corrupts display

Hi Everyone

This ones strange and we can only make this happen on one machine (unfortunately the machine is the MD's Dell Inspiron 8000)

We have a form we all fill in once a month which has 2 macros on it, 1 for printing (which seems a bit pointless) and 1 that clears the form.

We have used this form on Win95/98/ME & 2000
the laptop is running WinME
Office 97 is the package used and excel 97 is the ONLY application showing this problem.

Whether the form is blank or filled out, when you try and print it its prints a blank page, and recreates parts of the document in varying sizes all over the page, very strange corruption.

This happens even with the backup copy of the file that I keep remotely.
We have virus scanned and cant seem to find anything wrong.

Sometimes when the print request is run (especially from the print preview page) the spreadsheet crashes excel, but without any error code.

I hope this is something simple
We have re-installed office twice to try and fix the problem.
All that is left is a repair or reinstall of the o/s

Please help

Hi BOFH, have you tried the sheet with macro's on another machine?

if that works ok then a bit of a hassle would be to run through the macro just to see what it does

you say it is pointless but can you print the form noraml from the normal print menu?

Hiya Bruintje
Thanks for the reply,

There are quite a few users @ work that use the form
it has been working fine on his machine until today

Any ideas?
What I meant by pointless macros was the clearing the form well maybe ok, but printing with a macro doesnt seem to have any point as the sheet is relatively simple

can you print it just by choosing file | print? or was there a change in printer drivers or something else switched on that pc. as it sounds this should almost be the reason, but it always is very difficult to trace that back

since we know some things for sure
-the code has been working
-the code is still working on other machines
-and suddenly it stops working

-or the system is just tired
-or there as a change in the setup(can be anything)

so now we only have to know if we can print the form normally from file | print to be sure if it's in the code or in the print action

Hiya Bruintje
Thanks for the reply

Unfortunately we cannot get it to print on that machine in any way that is available.

All other applications print fine.
No change has been made to the printer config in several months now.

I was wondering if there were any settings in excel that could cause this to happen, I have a feeling something may have accidentally been set.

Hi BOFH,
May sound trivial, but make sure it is not defaulting to print selection.  If this happens it will print that cell only.  If that cell happens to be blank, it will print a blank sheet.
