I've just install Win 2000 pro, logged on as Administrator..

I find the the START -> PROGRAMS - 'ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS' is missing??

How can I get this back, so the standard tools are displayed?

Also, where is the default user profile kept? I can't see in in \document & settings\default user. I recall with NT 4 it was in \winnt\profiles\default user.

Administrative tools is now under the control panel and default profile is hidden by default. You will need to select the unhide options available at my computer, tools, folder options, view tab, show hidden files and folders. Go back to documents and settings and defualt user is there
