SetLayeredWindowAttributes alternative for Win98 ??

I am using SetLayeredWindowAttributes for making my form transparent in Win2K/WinXP. Is there an alternative available for doing that in Win98. I used AlphaBlend function but that didnt serve the purpose because i need to capture events from behind that window too. may be i didnt use Alpha Blend Correctly if it can serve the purpose. Please help !!!

There are various .dll's and stuff on planet-source-code, however, I don't think any capture the bitmap from behind the window.  If they did, it would probably be extremely slow.
