Launch Exchange System Manager à Administrative Groups à Group à Server à  Protocols

Virtual SMTP Server -->Properties --> Access Tab -->Relay

To turn off all relaying select the "Only the list below" radio button

Enable "Allow all computers which successfully authenticate…" checkbox

Add your local LAN IP subnet to the list so that the computers inside can relay ( This is optional, and should be avoided, unless specifically required for any special purpose, like mails thru automated scripts etc…)

Sorry... the above comments were blocking the relay...

For spam control...You may subcribe to one of the open relay databases (IRDB)..

To filter Incoming SPAM See:
http://martijnjongen.com/orfilter

It's a free dns black list filter that works well with Exchange 2000.

Easy to install and configure.

I use it with sbl.spamhaus.org and bl.spamcop.net
>80%-90% of the spam gone over night!
