MAPI Session Handle

Hi
We used to run Groupwise on 95, I have updated to Windows 2000 now Groupwise won't run. I have installed Outlook as a frontend to groupwise but would like to know why Groupwise is crashing.

Error Report
The 'MAPI Session Handle' of the Novell Groupwise 'Object Request Broker' Could not be accessed. The address book cannot run (error status: 0x80004005).

It tells me to reinstall groupwise - done that - still there!?

well, you do need to reinstall groupwise actually...

but first, start with deinstalling.
use the groupwise cleaning agent to deinstall:
http://support.novell.com/servlet/filedownload/pub/gwca55us.exe/
(this will also remove your registry settings)

before you start installing groupwise you will need to install windows messaging
you must install it first, it can be obtained here:
http://support.novell.com/servlet/filedownload/pub/winntwms.exe/

see this page for more info on the problem:
Technical Information Document
MAPI Session error launching GroupWise client. - TID10053867 (last modified 20SEP2001)

http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/10053867.htm

(it says NT workstation in the document, but this also applies to the win2k workstations and have seen the same on a XP workstation not having the right windows messaging)

good luck with the installation

Thankyou very much.

Should make the nazis in ITS happy, if they ever detect I've upgraded.
