I wish to create a flash title for my articles. How can I create an animated title when I don't know yet the text ?

I see couple samples how to read a text file and to use it in my animation. But I don't wish to read a text file, because I get the title from a database. Can I use some parameters to do this job ?

Someting alike: mytitle.swf 'My new title'

Yes you can animate title, even you don't know the text.
but there are some limitations on animation.

If you dont know the text then you can not render title charater by charater. (For this one you have to know the title first and then break apart to render text charater by charater.)

But you can do following things on hole title tween, alpha, tint, brightness etc.

for your next question, you can use parameter instead of pulling from text file.

I have created on example for you post your email

Cheers

The domain is xnet.ro . Because the space between @ and x is small is hard to read the corect name : @x.

you have write server side page to pass values from database to flash. Server-side scripts means in asp,php etc.

How to write server-side scripts is out of scope of this question. But still go throught these urls for more details

http://www.scripts.nl/flash/f-asp1.asp

http://www.macromedia.com/desdev/mx/flash/articles/flashmx_php02.html

http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/ts/documents/flash_database.htm

or you can pass parameters through url also

http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/action_scripts/actionscript_dictionary/actionscript_dictionary402.html

I think this will help you lot

I found a nice text effect on net. But the sample project use an edit box to type the text and a button press event to start.

I wish to have a project that can be started with ( get my text from command line ):

<OBJECT classid=clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000 codebase=http://download.macromedia.com/pub/
shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,23,0 width=468 height=60><PARAM NAME=movie VALUE=square.swf?title=Medicamente.info> <PARAM NAME=quality VALUE=high><PARAM NAME=bgcolor VALUE=><EMBED src=square.swf?title=MyText quality=high bgcolor= width=468 height=60 TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">
</EMBED>
</OBJECT>

Can you do this job for me ? I offer new 200 points for this .

You can download the sample project from :
http://www.ginsonic.ro/Crypt.zip.

The movie size depend by my text lenght and a 22-24 font size I think that is perfect.

Best regards,
Nick
