asked on

macintosh to windows printing

Okay, I think all I need is a driver, but you all may know more than me, so here goes.

I have a powerbook 540c running OS 8.1.

Now, I have an HP 550c DeskJet printer on a win2k network.

I can connect my powerbook through the 2k box to get on the net, so I know that there is something going on there.

So, where can I get a mac driver for the HP 550c DeskJet (not DeskWriter)?

Also, what else will I need to make this happen?

Please don't say Dave, because I don't have $150 burning a hole in my pocket, and this is really not necessary, capice?

Thanks

With such an old OS your options are a bit limited. Dave functionality is built into OS X. The mac drivers can be found on the HP website or http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=7254&db=mac.
Without Dave youre going to have to install print services for macintosh on the PC which is nothing short of a pain in the rump. Also check www.macwindows.com.
