I recently formatted my computer (OS windows 98) and it now has 16 colors and 640 by 480 pixels. It will not let me change the size and there is no other colors besides 16 colors and 2 colors. My display adapter now is Standard Display Adapter (VGA). I've downloaded and tried the other display adapter on there but they all have the error that the adapter cannot be used. I thought it may have been a problem with the monitor, it is a SONY HMD A200. I've tried solutions from many help pages but none have helped yet. Please help!

Your problem is simple :  no driver for the video card ...

You must identify your graphic card and after install driver for this card !
Open your case and examine video card ... after visit the web site manufacturer of your card and download the driver.

Main video manufacturers :
Nvidia, ATi, Matrox,..

try : www.xxxxx.com where xxxx is the name of manufacturer.

I suggest you to use your drived cd that came with ur mother board. Just insert it and an auto rui programme will assist you to have it installed!

Insert the cd, then find the link/button/text that reads something like VGA driver or graphics driver and click it to install it. You might have to restart your compter. After that you might have to go to the setting tab (under dekstop) to increase the colour setting to improve the graphics.

Hope that helps.

Try installing latest graphics driver for your display card and monitor. If this doesn't solve the problem try restarting pc in safe mode and from there choose your display settings and restart pc.
