Nightly Application Log Errors

We are getting the following errors daily with Exchange 5.5 and NT 4.
Event ID 184
Source ESE97
Type Error
Category online defragmentation

MSExchange DS (240) online defragmentation of database D:\exchsrvr\dsadata\dir.edb terminated prematurely after encountering unexpected error -510.

This used to run fine.

It failed when writing to the log file. Do you have plenty of disk space free on that drive?

We have about 4.5 GB free. That should be more than enough.

We are running ES SP4.

We stopped the mta and the information store services and then ran :
eseutil /D d:\dsadata\dir.edb and received the following error:
Operation terminated with the following error -1206 (Jet_errDatabaseCorrupted. non-db corrupted db)after 15.438.

Can anyone tell us what to do next? We are reluctant to shut down the directory service due to the corruption it may not restart.

Good. You had backups. I am sure you wouldn't be surprised at how many people don't do backups at all.

I answered my own question. See above
