Has anybody tried putting a VB DLL inside the IIS Application Object?

Problem: Want to share data between hits. First hit loads the data into the Application Object, subsequent hits save time and re-use the same data.  I created a DLL and tried this. It seems to work, I can put stuff into the DLL and get it out in subsequent hits but.....

Only problem I had so far was changing the DLL version, I had to re-start IIS so the new instance could deploy itself. I have not tried this in a heavy duty situation yet.

If you tried it did it work for you?  I have read that you have to be careful. Is this a bad idea?
