My cable provider advises me that my modem should be able to provide a standard RJ 45(ethernet) connection as well as a USB connection to two different computers. The maunfacture Motorola also states this can be done. One or the other of the computers is on (not both at once). The regular connections(ethernet) works with no problem. The USB connection fails. Both computers run windows XP and meet the requirments as to speed and memory. The proper USB driver is loaded and seen by my second (HP) computer. The device manager sees the motorola modem as a motorola USB modem. Can some one give me a step by step procedure for trouble shooting this problem. If you have solved a similar problem please advise me.
