I have a new cd writer with 40x12x48x,it can't read cd

Give us for details please :
- Did you install software to read VCD,Div X ?...
- Home made CD ?

It's could a speed problem ... you can reduce speed with this method :
-Right click in CD icon
-Choose property
-Configuration
-Select a low speed : 4x,10x ...
-Make several try ... and find the good speed for your (old) CDs...

just some cd brought from vcd shop  and can't read the cd.

Normally , vcd , software cd can be shown in my computer \

cd drive .i have tried to read a cd from a old computer

and try  it in a new computer with high speed cd writer

but it doesn't work in the new cd writer

did you try to reduce speed on the new cd writer ?

Sounds like you need to exchange the drive for a different model, or a different drive of the same model.

Where exactly do you change CD speed?  I've never seen this on any CD drive I've used, in any OS...are you using some addon util from Nero, etc?

why in my computer can't select a low speed . no this configuration.

I verify :
Finally, it must be an Roxio/Adaptec O.S plug-ins (Ez CD creator V 4.04).
(All My PCs have EZ Cd creator and Ez cd direct).

adragon218, can you please give us more details such like which type of CD-RW that you purchase (internal or external)?

Usually for external, we need to install it's driver 1st b4 we can use the CD-RW.

You need to verify that the connections are correct (master/slave settings, should be in the drive's instructions) if this is set wrong it won't work.  If its correct and still won't work, then you have a defective drive.
