Running W95 games under W2000

I have some nice games (ex. TripePlay2000 baseball from EASports) that was made in the W95 time.  Now we have a new PC with Windows 2000 and ofcourse this game doesn't run after installing.  EASports says it comes because they use DirectX for W95 and this is not supported on W2000.
Is there a workaround to let this game run under W2000 ?
Would Windows XP be more easy to run these kinds of games ?

Fair answer from CrazyOne.  He can't help that Microsoft plays a dirty game with its operating systems.
Hi PatWeyn,

if you do accept a comment with a B grade then please explain why, expert can't help the restrictions of the soft or hardware

(up)graded to A

thanks

After reading the explaination of the grades, I still have the idea that B is OK.  Like written: B is not bad.
When there is really no solution, so be it.  Maybe I hoped there would have been some kind of work around.  But I do appreciate the fast (and probably good) respons.

PS: If everyone is always giving an A grade, what is the use of the other grades then ?
you're completely correct, and we're working on a way to get everybody over the line of accepting a B when it's not worth an A

we've to look at our PAQ, it's been combed through and when everything is an A but the answer is correct though not the best solution available then it could also be an B

A's should be reserved for real solutions, workarounds of a very brilliant level but not for good comments or answers they're just good

but it takes time for people to adjust to that thanks for your thoughts on this

there's already a discussion going on here

Yeah and if the solution is "It can't be done" then that is an A. In this case the only workaround is to upgrade the programs which it was assumed by reading the question that this was not what the questioner was after. Most older games like the ones mentioned rely on using VxD's which the NT based OS's do not allow this type of driver to be used and there is no workaround for these types of drivers.
:-)

now you two go out there and fight it out, drink a beer over it and come to the conclusion that running win95 games on win2000 is a bit difficult or not possible since those programs where not built with win2000 in mind

have fun

Actually Jgould I wasn't really debating PatWeyn. I was debating with your "A's should be reserved for real solutions, workarounds" which I feel is not correct. If there is no workaround and the solution is "This can't be done" with a little explaination to why it can't be done then this is an A answer. I explained in a concise manner the probable reason why these games wouldn't run on NT based OS's. So how is this not an A.

I don't mind getting B's. In the last few weeks I have gotten several B's that I did not contest. But I do contest B grades when I know the answer I gave is correct and to the point. An A grade is for an answer that is correct not for some well witten disortation that may not even completely solve the problem. B is for an answer that steers the questioner in the right direction but didn't quite completely answer the question and they had to do a little more reasearch or experimentation on their own to achieve the solution. :>)

Let me close the debate. I think we are all right in our arguments.  In this case, I would upgrade to an A if I knew how to do it.

But I don't, so I invite you both for a Belgian beer (since I am living in Belgium and we have probably the best beer in the world) or even better for a bottle of French wine (since I am working in Paris).
