Lost Data
Hi,
I have a friend who has a used iBook and she say that suddenly ALL her data and some programs are gone. I'm not really a Mac person, but I'm good with PCs and I poked around but couldn't find any of the data. I did a Sherlock 2 search, but it said (after about 1/2 a second) that it couldn't find anything with "side" in it (which is a word in a lot of her document titles.
She is now only using 634 MB of her 3.4 GB drive (no idea what she was using before). The trash is empty.
She said she rebooted because something strange was happening and when the computer came back up, there was a blinking question mark (doesn't sound good)
Any idea where her data may have gone, is there any way to recover it (programs that can recover "deleted" data) etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Ben

I like to use both. Some people swear by one or the other. I really dont know which is better. Both have solved problems for me that the other wouldnt fix so its a draw. Just boot off their CDs and run the program.

Thanks, I'll give it a try

Thanks for the reply. Is either better than the other?
I don't think she moved the items to the trash and then deleted, but the second possibility sounds like it could be it.
Whichi is better: Disk Doctor or DiskWarrior? Are they pretty simple? Just install and set to recover?
Thanks a bunch
