Removing Windows Professional & Leaving Windows Server
This question must have been asked a zillion times. But here goes.
On one computer I have Windows Professional 2000 *and* Windows 2000 Server.
I want to remove the Windows Professional operating system. How do I do it?

>>>So can I get away with just deleting the WINNIT-DELETE directory?
Most Likely. There may be some files in the root of D that are system files for Pro that you can get rid of as well.
BOOT.INI
NTDETECT.COM
ntldr
ntuser.dat
ntuser.dat.LOG
pagefile.sys
The pagefile.sys will probably the largest file in the D root and could gain you a few hundred MB's of space.

Do you have anything intalled under the D:\Program Files folder that is relevant to the Sever installation. If not then you can remove this folder as well. However back it up first just in case.

Yes, I see a pagefile.sys in the C drive and a pagefile.sys in the D Drive -- the d drive pagefile is 1.50 gig.
I'm almost ready to do the deleting.
I'll wait until the morning -- in case anyone has any warnings for me. Otherwise I'll do my DELETING!
Thanks again.
P.S. Any files in the program directory I can delete in the "D" drive??

I should add that I've set it up so it only boots up on WIndows Server.
Also there are two drives. C & D C has the Server files under the usual WINNT directory. Just to be sure that the Profesisonal files are on the D drive, I renamed the winnt directory on D to "winnit-delete" -- and have rebooted with no problems to Windows Professional.
I would prefer NOT to reformat the D hard drive, unless I absolutely must. I have files and programs there I'd rather not reinstall etc. So can I get away with just deleting the WINNIT-DELETE directory? I'm mainly doing this because I am not using Professional on this machine and want to gain to hard drive space.
