OffLine Reading with IE6.0 with Win98

At work, I have access to a DSL line and can download the parts of my favorite newspaper fast, and I mean fast

What I want to do is save this download to an Iomega ZIP drive so I can use my download at home

But I cannot seem to transfer "Offline Web Pages" to my ZIP drive--There are no errors, it just will NOT transfer

It would be nice to be able simply to save to the ZIP drive and be done with it, I, I think, but how?!

Anyway, bottom line, any idea of a work-around or solution or suggestion or whatever to being able to transport my "Offline Web Pages" back and forth between office and home would be greatly appreciated

Hello,

Might sound a bit obvious, but couldn't you just do a file >> Save As... then save as "web page complete" to your Zip when you're viewing a page you want to read later?

Note:

I do this under IE6:

Tools==>Syncronize

IE places the Sync in the "Offline Web Pages" of which I seem to have no control over, including copying or moving the results over into my ZIP drive, or anywhere else, for that matter

"Save As" will save an article, but not what I want to save

I may well be missing something obvious

I believe that gexxo has given you as much information in this regard as I've found.  You're running Windows 98 and IE 6, so the options may not be applicable here, but nonetheless, you may want to check this link for "possibilities", since it talks about moving the Temporary Internet Files folder.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q301057

It seems that saving the files, as gexxo recommended, as the whole HTML (save as option) to specific folders is the way to go at the end of your day after all have been synchronized to ensure you've got all the updates you need/want.  You "may" want to drop that file or those files into Winzip to compress it, if it's too large and uncompress it when you are ready to use at the other system.  Perhaps using the Briefcase is another option, though it's been a long time since I've explored the Briefcase options.

Will keep the old thinking cap on in case other ideas come up.

Some links found in exploring the possibilities, though I cannot validate their effectiveness, not having tried or used them.  Just some other alternatives and/or ideas for you to check out.

I can give you another option, You can use Netscape to download and view the pages offline very easily. I do not understand why MS made this so hard to do with IE. I prefer NS for my browser of choice and there is one site I download pages alot for later viewing on my laptop. And the really strange part is the downloaded pages will open in IE or NS with no problems.

Sorry, I have been so tardy about responding, but up till today I got error messages from EE anytime I tried to Accept an Answer or simply to Comment

I appreciate all the help and some I'm sure I can use in time, but so far, I have not found an adequate work around

M$ sure seems to see IE's Syncronize feature as an orphan, and I guess I must be the only person who uses it

gexxo's answer sure puts together my mental "dots" on why I cannot simply transport my Offline Web Pages via Iomega ZIP back and forth from Home and Office

I like Offline Explorer by MetaProducts, but unfortunately, I have this 3d party program I like to use with IE, and OE and this prog don't connect

I downloaded the newest version of Netscape, but for the life of me, I have not found out how to use its Offline Reading feature other than for Newsgroups and Email

Anyway, I want to close out my question and thanks to all

Thank you....
This will help you get started with Offline activity using Netscape:
http://wp.netscape.com/browsers/using/messenger/offline.html
To use netscape to view pages offline, I just go to File, then "save as" and pick the location and give it a name.
Then when I want to view the page I just doubleclick on it.

Note: The first time you try to view the page you need to hold down the shift button and right click it and select Netscape as the viewer. and select to always use that program to open files of this type.
(the default is to use MS's programs)

Also this does not download the pictures, only the text from the page, but it is still formatted as if viewing it online, just missing the pictures.
