Have you installed any Anti-virus? (Trend Micro, Norton, etc..?) You can use your Anti-virus to block attachments.

Just a side note, you can use Exmerge 2000 to archive any attachments out of the store that you would like.

Exmerge can be found on the Exchange 2000 CD.
Just run it, then specify "Archive" in the options button, and specify the attachment name on the "messages" tab....
I run Exmerge 2000 but it export/imports data like, it doesn't have such kind of option.

The server is configured with McAfee antivirus(Automatically update engines weekly). I couldn't find to block any att. files in this also.

Kindly reply.
You need to get with McAfee, you should have the option in your configuration to block whatever attachments you'd like to....

On the screen where you enter the server name, DC name, and port #, there should be an options button. Inside the options, there will be a "Messages" tab. This is where you can specify attachment names....

Three ways you can go here;

1) Install some sort of anti-virus software for Exchange.   I use GroupShield which has customisable attachment filter on it (also does PGP blocking too!)

2) If your using Outlook 2000, SP3 for Office includes an updated security feature which comes with an attchment filter.

3) If your using ISA server as a smart host/relay, you can use it's built in (albeit slightly limited) SMTP filter.  This can filter attachments and words/phrases

Hope this helps.
