ATI Rage 128 install fails (XPert 128 card) :(

Hmm... for some reason I can't get this thing to work in Windows 98. I just bought this today, and installing from the CD, or the last published drivers from the ATI site doesn't work. I'm installing this on an older machine, and here are the specs:

AMD K6-2 350 MHz
384 MB RAM (128 + 256 added today, along with the Rage 128)
Windows 98 (I also use Linux on this PC, kernel 2.4.18)
Direct X 8.1
VIA MVP3 based motherboard

I'm upgrading this over the onboard video (ATI Rage Pro). I do happen to have a spare Voodoo3 2000 PCI card in storage, though, and may return this card if it doesn't work for me.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Alex aka grater

That worked. You're right, the CD drivers were old, and I went with the ones from the web site. Sure beats the Voodoo3, and now I can even view sites with the 3d plugins effectively without changing resolutions.

Thanks :)
You're welcome. I have the same card. Went through the same thing with it (and then some) about 2 and a half years ago. Got the origingal answer, right here, at the exchange....
