You cannot share addressbooks unless they are hosted on a server..... which will be expensive.

-Arun.
Be careful not to just replace the second user's address book with the one from the first user, because it contains more than just addresses.
Also location documents, connection documents, etc... are contained within this address book, so if you just copy the address book to the second person's PC you risk him no longer being able to work with his client.
Therefore do as Arun suggests or if it's possible put the address book on a server where you can share it with as many people as you want.
When putting the address book on a server also make sure to put it in a subfolder of the data directory of the server or rename it, because otherwise your server won't work anymore, since it's address book is also called names.nsf!!
parkslafferty: You din't mention what is the purpose for doing this, assuming you want to share the address for mailing purpose ...

Try this,

Copy names.nsf from person1 to person2's data directory with new name as oNames.nsf

Then edit person2's note.ini and look for names entry, it will be like this names=names.nsf... Add the new addressbook to this line like this

names=names.nsf,oNames.nsf

Restart notes client. From now on when person2 compose memo the mail can look at both the addressbooks for name resolution

You can actually do this on a server without making a copy on the second users HDD.  In the notes.ini edit the line that has names=names.nsf

tack on a comma and substitute your values for the following where SERVER is your server's CN and Domain is the Server's O values

,SERVER/DOMAIN!!yournames.nsf
so the names line could read

names=names.nsf,SERVER/DOMAIN!!yournames.nsf

mind you there may be values between names.nsf and the one you are entering.  BTW in 4x you can't add this through User Preferences you have to edit notes.ini
Hope this helps

Hello

I think found that tidbit from the Lotii when they used to have an office here in DC and participated in the User Group meetings.  It really is a nice undocumented feature.

Its nice to find another group from the usual Notes.net crowd.  Plus I like the agressively helpful nature here, it seems that help isn't always cheerfully given over there.  I found this whilst searching for some info for my latest endeavor...a JSP app on Websphere integrating a VSE CICS/VSAM system with DB2 and... eventually... Domino.  Didn't realize how much I had to learn to write thisJSP stuff!!! Really makes you appreciate domino.  Domino cant handle the base file for this app though .. 1 million records with 5 million transactions.

Not sure where is the right place to put a blurb about me, there is one on my profile but I can add some stuff here.  If this isnt the right place i am sure u all know how to get rid of it LOL.  This is my tech background in a nutshell:

Well as I mentioned I am in the DC area, Arlington VA to be exact.  I have been an independent since 1997 I started with Notes at Turner Construction implementing a 'worldwide'  (read US and 1 other country) sales and marketing system in R3. (I actually was working in the sales and marketing group and got shifted to the Notes project) It was 35 offices though and was a bit of a challege.  From there I went to be a Project Manager at GE Capital ITS who was trying to replicate its Atlanta Notes practice in DC and Chicago but got merged with Ameridata.  They wanted to bill out me and my senior developers on site at $50 an hour (in 1997 that was way below market) we had a project oriented model anyway so that really wasn't a good option.  Anywho...the 2 spin off practices went under in 8 months but there were still some clients that needed help.  Hence the start of my indy status.  I've looked for a partner on and off, but never found the right match.  I have a semi custom app that I have been providing to several clients that is a Donor Relationship Management system for non-profit fundraising.  Kind of a CRM for charities.

hmmm well thats a lot of rambling, feel free to email me my email is in my profile.

Nice to be so warmly greeted.

Thanks

Stan
