Modem Question with Win98 SE

Hello,

I have an Internal and External modem installed, com1&2 with one Phone line. The internal modem is deciated to a software program that is only used to dial out. The external modem has PC Anywhere 32 which I use to dial in. The problem is PC anywhere doesn't pick up because the internal modem picks up before the External modem.

Is there someplace in Windows that I can set the internal only to dial-out and not to pick up if it dials in?

Thanks
Clinton

I think you are going to have to change the initialization string. Try looking at this webpage. Here you can select a few buttons and it will generate the correct initialization string for you. Not sure if this will work for your particular modem but worth a try:

good luck!

In answer directly to your question read this on that same page:

Auto Answer
If you are going to be using your modem to dial-out only, set this to 0. This is the usual default, but not always. Any number between 1 and 255 will cause your modem to auto answer after the number of rings you specify.
S0=

that's what you have to set to 0

Not sure if I underatand the problem correctly but why can't you just switch the phone jacks so that the proper
modem gets the input first thereby it should pick up before the other has a chance??

good luck
