unable to register scrrun.dll
during the installation of my program (i used the setup-creation tool from visual studio 6.0) setup notifies me that it encountered a problem during the registration of scrrun.dll (during installation on a windows98 system)
so i try to register it manually using regsvr32.exe: error! so i remove all the entries in the registry reffering to scrrun and try registering it again (i read about that somewhere): still doesn't work!
any more tips? ways around this problem? or what am i doing wrong here?
thanks,
wouter

I had already tried that too, didn't work either. In fact, during the installation MS Scripting 5.5 ALSO gave an error trying to register a .dll, so I thought "hey, mabye office 2000 has an updated version of "scrrun.dll" which might work, let's install that!"
Guess what? -> error trying to register dll's!!
Aaarggh!
Well, the problem is solved now (i installed Windows XP) but still I would like to know what the problem might have been, because I'm wondering: was this a single case? (so I won't encounter the sample problem when installing my program on another Win98 PC) or is it common???
I think something was wrong with the registry on that pc (hard drive actually). But I don't know very much about the registry.
Is it stored on the hard disk? Is it completely overwritten when formating the partition and then re-installing windows? ....
Anyhow, I seem to have been one of the few who encountered this problem (everywhere I looked on the net I saw: "simply register "scrrun.dll" and things should work" -> exactly my problem!!
So I guess it would be fair to send out my 75 points to the person who encountered the same problem and solved it.

PS: Sorry about the long post, but nobody said you had to read it!
