Why does GetMenu() retrieve menus handles only for some apps?

I've successfully built a small app to access and activate certain menu items of other applications, using Getmenu(), GetSubMenu() and GetMenuItem(), then doing a SendMessage() with the obtained Menu Item ID via WM_COMMAND. However, this only works for some applications, like Calculator, or Notepad, but not for Outlook or Opera. Now what's the difference for those apps?

I already used Spy++ to see which windows have menu handles at all, but couldn't see any Opera window (including childs) having a menu handle at all!

What am i doing wrong?
