Error 0x800cc0f in Outlook 2000 running XP Home

I have a new p4 xp Home system that connects to the Internet via a D-Link card/accesspoint.  I have experienced some bizarre, intermittent problems that seem to be related, and am hoping that someone here can help me out.

I can send and receive email using OE, but often, for days/weeks at a time, I am only able to receive (and not send) email using Outlook 2000.  When I try to send I get the above referenced error code.  In parallel to not being able to send email using Outlook, I am also unable to pull up several web sites (e.g., hotmail, my excite), but I can access all other web sites just fine.  Normally I am able to access hotmail just fine.

One other possibly related issue is that Outlook and OE refuse to remember my account passwords.  IE also refuses to remember my passwords even though cookies are turned on.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

When was your last virus scan?  http://housecall.antivirus.com
Are all of the patches applied?  Take a look at Windows Update and verify that.
I think it's time for you to reinstall either outlook and IE or mabe the whole system(that is if all patches are applied as slink9 suggests...)

Thanks for the advice.

Traval's register mod fixed the password problems.

As for the problems sending email and the related problems with pulling up certain web sites . . . I have a D-Link router, which doesn't have the same MTU problems as the Linksys routers.  Still, D-Link had been having problems with Pacbell DSL.  So, D-Link issued a firmware update to address the issue.  I've just installed the new firmware and everything seems to be working again.

Thanks again
