irq's and networking problems

I have a windows 2000 server.  We have been experiencing problems in being able to connect to the server at various times.  We have noticed two possible clues as to what is wrong.  One is that for some reason we need to have netbeui on the server as well as any 2000 clients, if they are going to see the server.  Also I noticed that IRQ 11 is being shared by four different devices, one of which is the nic.  Any ideas about this, anyone?

Having to use Netbeui sounds like IP Addressing issues?

Can you ping the machines?

BTW, IRQ sharing is fine in 2000.

Do you have a WINS server set up? that would eliminate the need for NetBEUI
or you could use lmhosts files on the clients
