Im doing some socket programming. Somebody please tell me what is the maximum no of connections that java sockets can handle?

If you mean the number of sockets then this limit is imposed by the OS, and not Java.
If you mean how many connections can be made on a port, the answer is 1 (again nothing to do with Java really).

For NT I think it is 16777214, as defined by TcpMaxNumConnections in the registry.
