If you have an ORIGINAL Photoshop...IT COMES WITH A 400PAGE BOOK!!!
for that price it is the least they can do! :)
If you don't have an original ..try the Photoshop Bible. (also other Bibles are available like. Flash Bible, Dreamweaver Bible, Illustrator Bible etc. )
They are also downloadable as PDF.
Also the build-in help , can help a lot!
Check the photoshop website for tutorials etc.

My advice: Don't buy anything!

Just go to your favorite web search tool and type "Photoshop Tutorials" and take your pick.

These is a lot to be learned from so called "cheesy effects."
I have to disagree. Tutorials on cheesy effects will only teach you how to make more cheesy effects. To truly understand photoshop you need to understand the tools, and the background functions. For example, how many cheesy tutorials will teach you how or what the Curves dialog box does? Probably none, yet its one of the most important color correction tools in Photoshop.

I thought you might disagree, weed.

Sonichke, it really depends on what you want to do with PS. You want to make logos and buttons and cool interfaces for web or print? Then all you need is on the web already in the form of tutorials, actions and layer styles. Most of which are free to download at actionxchange.com. Dissecting actions is a great way learn. Personally, I learn more through doing not reading. There are also plenty of tuts that cover curves.

Good luck!

(ps. kazaa &/or morpheus have huge amounts of e-books/tutorials/bibles etc, but beware, for using copyrighted material is illegal!)

The book is called PhotoShop 7 Down and Dirty tricks by Scott Kelby. This  book has few tips you dont hear from the online tutorials.
Most of the people are right If you dont have money to buy the book but sometime the book comes in handy. I like this book because you can explore many possiblities to practice many things.
