I use Norton Profession Firewall. I've never has any problems with it, and it's very easy to use and maintain. If a person tried to attack your computer or connect to it without authorization, you can view everything from that person's IP to his or her address and sometimes phone number. It even shows you a map and pinpoints their location in the united states. Before I had Norton, I used Zone Alarm Pro, and it caused several problems, especially with my registry. Often, my computer would just randomly restart while i was in the middle of a task, and after uninstallation, it leaves almost all of its files in your registry and you must delete them manually. Regardless of what firewall you choose.... I would recommend that you do not use Zone Alarm or Zone Alarm Pro.
