I need to get time value (arrival/service/delay time) as from exponentially distributed function with some mean value lambda. Rather than the code as solution, I would prefer the logic behind it along with a little insight on exponential distribution.

objects...the link that u gave is too mathematical. What i need is a way to implement exponential distribution. i dont want the theoretical derivation stuff. or rather, can u give me code with explanation of what is what?

You said in your question that you didn't want code, and wanted the logic behind it??

Well, when i said logic, i didnt mean so much mathematical stuff.....i wanted something like a formula that i can implement....i discussed it with my friend and well, i got what i wanted. it is the equation epow(-lambda/t), where t is uniformly distributed between 0 and 1, lambda being the mean of the distribution function. and other things on that. Thanx but no thanx.

Anyway, i want to conclude this answer. Hence i am accepting ur first comment as answer.
